4th Annual Junior Girls' Clinic
The 2010 MWGA-PGA Junior Girls' Skills & Rules Clinic will be held in early May at Rush Creek Academy at Rush Creek Golf Course in Maple Grove. Coming off three wildly successful years, this free clinic runs from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 1st and will include training sessions on golf skills, course management, fitness and nutrition, rules and etiquette. It's lots of fun for everyone involved -- and it's free.
Twelve PGA teaching professionals, joined by some of Minnesota's top amateur women golfers, will instruct the girls on the skills needed to enjoy the game of golf. In each of the past three years, more than 250 girls with a wide range of ability levels have benefited from the clinic. The girls, ages 8-19, are grouped by skill level and age based on the information they provide on the registration form.
For the advanced participants, there will be a special clinic conducted in the Academy where participants receive CD's with their videotaped swing analysis, and more personalized instruction. Golf teams are encouraged to participate in this special clinic; what a great way to kick off the golf season!
It takes more than 40 volunteers to conduct registration, lead the clinic segments, and provide beverages, snacks, lunch and door prizes. Members of MWGA, MWPGA and the Gopher Women's Golf Team will be volunteering again this year to assist at the various teaching stations and to move the girls from station to station.
If you would like to volunteer for this great event or have items to donate for prizes for the girls, please contact Joan Archer by April 19, 2010 at joan@mnbev.com, 612-961-4488.
