Greetings and Welcome to the MWGA Summer Newsletter!

We've been enjoying wonderful weather for golf here in Minnesota this summer. I hope you've been taking advantage of it in every way possible, including, of course, our MWGA tournaments and events. You'll find convenient links to the results of completed events and to information on upcoming events farther down the page in this newsletter.

The MWGA has kept me busy this summer with lots of golf-related fun and good times. I played at the Spring Meeting (rain and all), and the Association Days, and the Senior Four Ball. I look forward to playing in the Senior Women's Championship at my own club, the Rochester Golf and Country Club. I'm especially excited about the upcoming Association Day at Giant's Ridge, August 30-31. My husband will join me as part of my team as this is a combined MGA/MWGA event, but a spouse is not required for you to sign up for this event. Any combination of men and women or all women is definitely encouraged for our MWGA side of it. If you don't have a partner or a team of four, just sign up and you'll be teamed up with someone. The whole idea is to play some golf and have a great time.

Another thing that's been fun and interesting is serving as a limited rules official at some of our tournaments this year. I like helping at the tournaments, seeing the different golf courses, watching and meeting our tournament players, and meeting and working with our MWGA members from all over the state. Please pay close attention to the feature article in this newsletter that is Laurie Velett's invitation to join the Rules Committee. You won't be disappointed if you accept that invitation.

I'd also like to remind you about the changes to our dress code policy for players and caddies in our tournaments, championship and events. There's a link in this e-newsletter to provide the specifics. Past MWGA president Barb Hanson said it well in a recent blog: "Dressing appropriately for the golf course immediately says: 'I respect this game. I respect my fellow golfers. I understand the expectation and am happy to comply.'"

I hope you continue to have a fine summer and I look forward to seeing you at the Fall Meeting in New Ulm on September 15 or at any of the MWGA tournaments and events before that.
